Governing Board Meeting

The Streamlined Sales Tax Governing Board (SSTGB) will meet on May 2-4, 2016 at the Omni Providence Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island.  Member state and non-member state officials, legislators and the business community are invited to attend.  The Governing Board strongly encourages the attendance of each member state’s appointed legislative delegate(s).

If you would like to have specific items on the Governing Board Meeting agenda, including proposed amendments to the SSUTA or Rules, please email craig.johnson@sstgb.org no later than Friday, April 1.  The final agenda will be noticed to the email ListServs 30-days prior to the meeting.  The Governing Board will discuss the status of Federal Legislation, related to providing the states remote seller collection authority.

 PUBLICATION

The documents to be included in the meeting publication must be emailed to Craig Johnson no later than Thursday, April 21.  If the deadline is missed you should bring at least 125-copies to the meeting for distribution at the onsite meeting registration.

It is important to pre-register prior to the meeting to be included in the catering headcounts and meeting room set-up plan.  Early pre-registration would be greatly appreciated!  Attendees may pre-register in one of three (3) ways:

 The business community that are not members of the Business Advisory Council (BAC) may email Fred Nicely, FNicely@cost.org for information on becoming members.  Businesses that join the BAC prior to the May 2016 meeting, after having pre-registered as non-members will receive the $75.00 registration fee refund upon request.  Please forward this email to any businesses you feel would like to join.  Most businesses should significantly benefit from attending the meetings.

 WEBINAR/ TELECONFERENCE

The open segments of the meetings will be available to the general public by teleconference/webinar.  The invitation will be emailed to the ListServs at a later date.  Please remember to mute your phone until speaking to obtain the best audio quality.  Please do not place the call on hold due to the possible disruption of hold music.  Business Advisory Council (BAC) members will receive a separate teleconference number from the Business Advisory Council (BAC) prior to that meeting.

 RECEPTION

Everyone is invited to enjoy the evening reception on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm eastern in honor of the 2015 SSTGB Past President, Senator Deb Peters.  Hors d’oeuvres will be served in the Waterplace Ballroom, 2nd floor and cash bar will be available.  The attendees will receive two complimentary drink tickets at the onsite meeting registration for the purchase of soft drinks, wine or domestic beer.  Please feel free to dress casually! 

LOCATION

The Omni Providence Hotel is located downtown, 8.5 miles (10-minutes) from the T.F. Green Airport (PVD).  The heart of downtown Providence is compact and walkable with most restaurants, nightlife, attractions, and shopping located within easy walking distance of the Omni Downtown Providence.  Three rivers flow through the downtown area, providing lovely nearby walking paths.  Downtown Providence is a model for the adaptive reuse of buildings, having preserved much of the stunning architecture of bygone eras.  The Hotel offers complimentary meeting and guest room wireless Internet, business and fitness centers.

 Cut-Off Date

Room block release deadline, April 18, 2016 at 11:59 pm eastern.  It is important to reserve a guest room before the April 18 room block release deadline.  Please consider making the reservation before travel approval is obtained.  You may cancel no later than 72-hrs. prior to check-in date.

 Check-in 3:00 PM and check-out at noon or you may call reservations to request an early check-in prior to arrival, however availability is limited.  The Hotel does not provide shuttle service.

 Reservations must be made on an individual basis.  Individual credit card or advance deposit must be provided to guarantee the reservation.  Reservations made after the April 18 room block release deadline will receive the discounted rate based on availability.  In order to meet the contractual room block requirements, please do not make reservations on the Hotel website, Expedia.com, Orbitz.com, Hotel.com, TripAdvisor.com or others websites.

CANCELLATION

Reservations canceled less than 72-hours prior to check-in are subject to a cancellation fee equal to the 1-night stay.  In addition, meeting registration cancellations less than 5-days prior to the start of the meetings may be subject to a cancellation fee equal to any non-refundable catering costs.
